I am a journalist, author, lecturer, social entrepreneur and part-time PhD student whose professional interests and activities are driven by a commitment to social justice and equality. I have a passion for learning and teaching, I am self-motivated and driven and seek to empower individuals through education and training. I founded the social enterprise People with Voices with the aim of widening access to professional journalism for groups that are under-represented in the mainstream media. This is achieved through the provision of affordable journalism training coupled with work experience in online journalism through our own news website.

New 10 wk evening feature writing course starts Oct 2010

Professional writing skills are always in demand and there are
numerous markets for freelance writers including newspapers,
magazines, periodicals and charity publications, to name just a
few.
This 10 week course run by journalism specialists,
People with Voices, covers the core skills and techniques of
feature writing from beginner through to intermediate level.
It will provide students with valuable skills that can be applied
to a variety of professional roles.
It is ideal for new or aspiring journalists, press officers, publicity assistants, freelance writers, people who write for newsletters, community newspapers or anyone with a blog or website.
Classes will be held in New Cross/Deptford within easy reach of
train and bus routes from 7pm to 9pm.
The cost of the entire course is £100 - equivalent to just £10 per class.
